The MG M9 Electric MPV has arrived, changing what luxury and sustainability mean in India.
Introducing a groundbreaking electric MPV
On July 21, 2025, JSW MG Motor India showed off the MG M9, a full-size electric MPV. This is a significant deal for cars in India. India's first all-electric luxury MPV is the M9. It costs ₹69.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and features the latest technology, the most comfortable ride, and the least harmful impact on the environment. The M9 features a 90kWh battery pack with a range of 548 kilometers, according to MIDC. It establishes a new bar for electric MPVs that are available to everyone and is a wonderful choice instead of the Kia Carnival and Toyota Vellfire.
Powertrain and Performance
The MG M9 has a 90kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery at its core. It also includes an electric motor in the front that gives it 245 horsepower and 350Nm of torque. This front-wheel-drive system keeps the car running smoothly and effectively, and it can go from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 10 seconds. A 160kW DC fast charger can quickly charge the M9's battery from 0% to 100% in about 90 minutes. On the other hand, an 11kW AC charger takes around 10 hours to charge all the way. The car also has Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging, which is a first for this type of automobile in India. This makes it better for extended flights. The M9's claimed range of 548 km makes it excellent for both short journeys around town and big road trips.
High-end design and interiors
The MG M9 looks modern and strong. It is 5,200mm long, 2,000mm wide, and 1,800mm high, and its wheelbase is 3,200mm, which is bigger than that of its competitors. The outside sports a smooth, closed-off grille, LED daytime running lights that are linked, and 19-inch alloy wheels with Continental ContiSeal tires that can correct themselves. The automatic sliding rear doors and the LED tail lights that are connected make it look even more expensive. The inside of the M9 is made of cognac brown leather and suede. The "Presidential" second-row captain seats can be adjusted in 16 ways, heated, cooled, and massaged. Each seat has its own touchscreen that controls these features. The in-car experience is better with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly, a 7-inch digital driver's display, and a 13-speaker JBL audio system. The M9 features a 945-liter trunk that can be made bigger by folding down the seats. It also has a 55-liter frunk for added storage.
Safety and high-tech features
The MG M9 includes a lot of high-end amenities, such as a panoramic sunroof, 64-color ambient lighting, and doors that open and close on their own. It also boasts MG's i-Smart linked car tech, two digital screens, and the option to charge wirelessly or using USB Type-A or Type-C cords. It has a lot of safety features, like seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), and a Level 2 ADAS suite with adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. A camera that can see all the way around the car makes drivers feel even more confident. These characteristics make the M9 a safe, high-tech, and elegant alternative for families and wealthy customers.
Availability and market positioning
The MG M9 is available in one fully-loaded Presidential Limo configuration and costs ₹69.90 lakh. You can choose from three stylish colors: Pearl Lustre White, Metal Black, and Concrete Grey. The first store opened in Thane, and you can only buy it through MG's high-end MG Select dealership network. You may book a delivery for ₹1 lakh, and it will start on August 10, 2025. The CKD method of putting together the M9 at MG's Halol facility keeps prices down, which is why it is an excellent choice for premium MPVs.
Conclusion: A New Era for Electric MPVs
The MG M9 electric MPV transforms how people think about luxury and sustainability in India's vehicle market. It has a long range, a comfortable interior, and the latest technology, making it the best choice for anyone who want a huge, eco-friendly, and high-end car. India's first electric luxury MPV is the M9. It not only goes up against typical MPVs like the Kia Carnival, but it also shows what an electric MPV can do. There is already a lot of demand in the M9, and people will have to wait until December 2025 to get it.
